Meet Dr. Eric Guglielmo

Pacific Northwest Retina is proud to welcome Dr. Eric Guglielmo, a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon with extensive experience diagnosing and treating complex retinal diseases. Dr. Guglielmo provides advanced medical and surgical care for conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, retinal vascular disorders, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and uveitis.
Dr. Guglielmo’s path to medicine is unique. Before becoming a physician, he spent several years as a high school English teacher in rural Alaska. That experience helped shape his patient-centered approach to care and his ability to explain complex medical conditions in a clear, understandable way. He believes that patients should feel informed, empowered, and actively involved in decisions regarding their eye health.
He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English Education from the University of Georgia before completing a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Dr. Guglielmo received his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and recognized for academic excellence. He completed his internship at Sacred Heart Medical Center, his ophthalmology residency at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, and his fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the West Virginia University Eye Institute.
Throughout his career, Dr. Guglielmo has combined clinical expertise with a passion for innovation and education. He has participated in national clinical research studies focused on advancing retinal treatments and has contributed to the development of emerging therapies designed to improve patient outcomes. His commitment to evidence-based care ensures patients have access to the latest advancements in retinal medicine and surgery.
Now returning to Washington State, Dr. Guglielmo is excited to join Pacific Northwest Retina and serve the communities of the Pacific Northwest. He is committed to delivering compassionate, personalized care while helping patients preserve and protect their vision through every stage of life.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Guglielmo enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, traveling, and supporting youth athletics. He has also participated in international medical outreach efforts, providing retinal care and physician education in underserved communities around the world.
