Meet Dr. Charles Birnbach
Dr. Birnbach received his Medical Degree with honors from New York University School of Medicine. He completed both his ophthalmology residency and a two-year fellowship in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous at the University of Washington.
Dr. Birnbach is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He sees patients at our offices in Seattle and Bellevue. He specializes in treatment for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and performs surgery for many conditions including retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane and macular hole.
Dr. Birnbach is a past president of the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and currently serves on the board of the Washington Ambulatory Surgery Center Association. He currently participates in clinical trials with other members of our group.
Dr. Birnbach lives in Seattle with his wife, Dr. Sangeeta Hingorani, who is a pediatric nephrologist at Children’s Hospital. They have a 24-year-old son and 19-year-old twin boys. Dr. Birnbach loves to golf and waterski in his (very) limited spare time.
"Dr. Birnbach treats each visit as if I am his most important patient. He has a terrific bedside manner, is so competent in his content area and was the one doctor that was able to diagnose a tricky condition. I totally trust his judgment and abilities. Top notch."— Patient of Dr. Birnbach's
