Meet Dr. Jeannie Xu
Ophthalmology

Dr. Xu grew up in Toronto, Canada, before moving to Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Boston University through the 7-Year Accelerated Medical Program. Dr. Xu completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by ophthalmology residency at Boston University, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. She then completed fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
Her interest in ophthalmology began with early exposure to research during her undergraduate studies. The field captivated her because of its rewarding nature—helping people improve or preserve their sight—and its complexity, as the eye serves as a window to overall health.
Dr. Xu specializes in various retinal conditions, with expertise in medical and surgical retinal diseases. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on retinal surgery, postoperative complications, and imaging biomarkers in vascular diseases.
Her approach to patient care emphasizes compassionate and personalized treatment. Dr. Xu prioritizes ensuring patients fully understand their options, actively listen to their concerns, and maintain clear, open communication. She is committed to staying updated on the latest advancements to provide the highest standard of care.
Dr. Xu is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
