Laser Treatments

The physicians at Pacific Northwest Retina are recognized as leaders in the diagnosis and treatment in conditions of the retina, macula and vitreous, including Laser Treatments.

What are Laser Treatments?

A laser treatment is the process of focusing a concentrated beam of light on a specific area of tissue. Lasers for the use of retinal treatments have been designed to be able to pass through non-retinal tissue without damaging them. Lasers are now a commonly used and very powerful tool in the treatment of retinal disease.

Do Laser Treatments Hurt?

Laser treatment are almost always painless for the patient. Most patients have little if any pain following retinal laser surgery as well. If there is discomfort after a procedure, an over the counter pain reliever such as Tylenol or ibuprofen should be sufficient. It is though, common to have blurry vision for the first few hours after laser treatments. If you are experiencing increasing pain or decreased vision please contact Pacific Northwest Retina immediately.
